Will Town Hall be ready by Dasara?

The restoration of the century-old Rangacharula Memorial Hall, popularly known as Town Hall, is moving at a snail’s pace.

The slow pace of work has put a question mark on whether the prime heritage building will be ready to host this year’s Dasara cultural events.

An important venue for cultural events and music concerts during the Dasara festivities since decades, the imposing structure has been crying for attention in the absence of maintenance. Town Hall’s caretaker, Mysore City Corporation (MCC), had restored its exteriors a few years ago.

As Dasara is approaching, the work on restoring the interiors has begun. With less than 50 days to go for the festivities, the work on embellishing the interiors is yet to gather momentum.
