Wildlife parks in Vidharbha to reopen on October 1

NAGPUR

Owing to average rainfall this year, the wildlife sanctuaries and national parks in Vidarbha will reopen after monsoon on October 1 and not on October 16 as decided earlier.

However, Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR), which is partially open during monsoon, will reopen fully from October 16. “We have to repair some roads which have been badly damaged due to rains and hence the park will be fully opened on October 16. This has also been mentioned in online bookings,” said GP Garad, chief conservator of forests & field director, TATR.

However, baring Tadoba, other parks are ready to welcome tourists from October 1, the day when wildlife week begins.

For the past couple of years there was a practice that parks used to close early as mid-June due to rains and reopen in mid-October due to extended monsoon that damaged tourism roads inside the parks.

Additional principal chief conservator of forests (APCCF) for Nagpur wildlife (east) Meyipokyim Aier said five parks Koka, Nagzira, New Nagzira, Navegaon and Navegaon National Park under Navegaon-Nagzira tiger reserve (NNTR) will reopen on October 1.
