The West Bengal government wants a direct bridge between the City of Joy and the City of Oranges. To create a new platform where the Sunderbanis could welcome Vidarbha into their culture, with new enthusiasm, a business to business meeting was held on Tuesday in the city, reports the Times of India.
C Raghuram, IAS, managing director of West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation (WBTDC) led the effort to connect businessmen in the two regions, and allow tour operators in Nagpur to learn more about the state’s tourism. He said the state is popular only for its tourist destinations like Darjeeling, but it has a lot more to offer rather than just the common locations, including the Dooars, Sunderbans, beaches and heritage Bengal.
Apart from this, two major tourism development projects underway currently, the Mega Eco-Tourism Hub in Gajoldoba and the Eco-Tourism hub at Jharkhali, Sunderbans, were also highlighted during this meet. The new logo ‘Experience Bengal’ and the tagline ‘The sweetest part of India’ was introduced to the tour operators. Around 12 tour operators had come from West Bengal to mingle with tour operators in Nagpur, so that they could have a direct business contacts.
