Video: VoA for US tourists, lifelong visa for PIO: Modi

American tourists to India will now be able to get a visa on arrival for India announced Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Madison Square Garden on September 28.

Modi also made a number of other key announcements regarding the Indian Visa process. Indian consulates in the US will also be able to issue long term visa for American and other tourists wishing to visit India unlike earlier. The travel authorisation will also be available online as well.

Also, People of Indian Origin (PIO) holding the PIO card will not be given a life long visa to visit the country. They will also not need to visit the local police station if their stay in India exceeds 6 months. Modi also announced that the PIO and the  Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) schemes have much duplicity and will be merged into one scheme.  Issues pointed out by the scheme recipients will also be resolved.
