DUBAI: India’s low-cost carrier, Air India Express, will introduce two new flights from next week connecting Sharjah to Chandigarh and Tiruchirapalli, announced a top official of the airline in Dubai on Wednesday.

K Shyamsundar, CEO of Air India Express, said that the services for Tiruchirapalli will be daily, while Chandigarh frequencies will be Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, reports Gulf Today.

The airline will also enhance the frequency of Sharjah-Varanasi flights, offering daily services to the north Indian city.

With the increased operations, the services between India and Sharjah will increase from 27 flights per week to 41 flights per week.

The airline will now have 164 weekly flights operating from UAE to 11 Indian destinations.

In the last one year, Air India Express has improved fleet utilisation by 20 per cent by re-looking at its schedule and enhancing it to suit customer needs.
