Travellers seek better rail amenities: Survey

Rail travellers want better amenities and services to be the focus of this year’s railway budget, a survey has concluded. Around 35 per cent of the participants listed amenities and services as the top priority, according to the survey done on more than 150,000 citizens.

This was closely followed by preference for more focus on safety (30 per cent) while 19 per cent voted for cleanliness and 16 per cent for timeliness as their top priority. Last year, people had voted cleanliness as the top most priority and this year, they seem to be satisfied with the progress around cleanliness.

In the survey by LocalCircles, amenities and services covered a broad segment from availability of information to catering. Food as always was an important concern area for passengers and they wanted both quality and hygiene of food to be improved.

One of the biggest issues that passengers identified was cancellation and that change in timings of their trains should be informed via text message.
