Tourism circuit around WB Tarapith temple town

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced a plan to develop a tourist circuit surrounding the temple town of Tarapith in Birbhum district. The state government has sanctioned a sum of Rs 9.80 crore for the development of Tarapith along with the provision of a weekly helicopter service from Kolkata every Saturday, said Banerjee at a review meeting.

Rs 3.49 crore has also been alloted for the Bakreswar hot spring, she said adding a ‘Baul Mela’ would be organised before the famous ‘Jaydev Kenduli’ Mela.

The Chief Minister formally announced the construction of Gitanjali township at Bolpur on 100 acres of government land. she also said that work on Panchami- Deucha coal block project will start soon.
