Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday announced the allocation of around Rs. five crore towards developing tourism activities in Tiruchirappalli and Tiruvarur districts.
Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has sanctioned Rs. 2.30 crore to develop various amenities at Pachamalai in Tiruchirappalli including setting up of tree-houses and renovating an existing guest house, among others.
The 527.61 sq.km. Pachamalai is located at 160-1,072 metres above sea level and the attractions included Periyapakkalam and Korayaru waterfalls besides wildlife and birds, an official release said.
In Tiruvarur district, Muthupettai, which boasts of an 11,885 hectare mangrove that attracts a variety of birds during winter, will be developed as a major tourist attraction.
