Tannirbhavi skywalk suspended on red tape

Touted as the country’s largest suspension bridge, the Tannirbhavi skywalk seems to have been lost in the voluminous reams of bureaucracy. A protest on Monday sought to highlight public frustration at the much-anticipated and much-delayed project.

The idea was first floated in 2008; and by 2011, Rs. 12 crore was sanctioned for the 410m-long project, connecting Suthan Battery to Tannirbhavi Bengre over River Gurupura, after the bridge width was extended to 10 feet.
