Snow in Manali covers it in white

MANALI

Temperature in the region decreased by 5 to 6 degrees celsius following snowfall in the higher reaches including Manali and Kufri. Rainfall in the lower regions resulted in intense cold conditions.

Maximum temperature of Manali and Shimla was recorded at 4 degrees celsius and 6.6 degrees celsius, respectively, reports The Times of India.

Areas such as Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur and Pangi-Bharmaur besides Dodra-Kawar area of Shimla district received heavy snowfall. Rohtang pass has been blocked following a 2 feet of snow fall.

Keylong town of Lahaul-Spiti district remained coldest in the state with lowest maximum temperature of 0.4 degrees celsius followed by Kalpa town of Kinnaur district where maximum temperature of was recorded at 2.2 degrees celsius.

Snowfall in many parts of the region had started since Thursday night and continued throughout Friday resulting into icy winds sweeping the entire state. Many roads in the high altitude areas of state have been blocked due to snowfall.
