Rs 1.56-crore proposal for Udupi project

The Department of Forest has submitted a proposal for the further development of Kshitija Nesara Dhama, a picnic and sunset point, at Othinane village, about 92 km from Udupi.

This five-acre idyllic picnic spot is located on a table top land overseeing the Arabian Sea on the one side, lagoons and lush green paddy fields on the other side. Currently, there are seven double rooms, a dormitory for 10 persons and a canteen at the Dhama. The Forest Department keeping in mind the needs of the future has submitted a proposal of Rs. 1.56 crore for its development to its own higher officials and to the Department for Tourism through the District Administration.

As per the proposal, three more cottages and a dormitory to accommodate 20 persons would be constructed. An amphi theatre would be constructed so that local artistes could perform.
