Rail Museum to be closed till Dec 6 for renovation

The National Rail Museum here will remain closed for public till December 6 due to ongoing major restoration work.

A major restoration and renovation work of the life size exhibits at the museum is being carried out and to facilitate smooth work, it has been kept closed for public till December 6, 2014, said a senior museum official, reports Economic Times.

Most of the life size exhibits (some of them over 100 years old) are being restored/reconstructed to their original glory by various Railway workshops/units.

Additional facilities and activities are being provided in the museum, the official said.

Majority of works are being carried out by Rail India Technical and Economic Society (RITES) and it is intended to open a large section of the museum to the public somewhere in second week of December.
