Pune Metro to be ready in two years

PUNE: Pune has become the latest Indian city to join the Metro bandwagon, with the contract for the 32-km first phase awarded to Hindustan Construction Company and the Dubai-based AL FARAA construction group.

Construction of the first phase will have to be completed in 110 weeks (a little over 2 years), reports Ultra News.

It will have nine elevated metro stations — Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Tukaram Nagar, Bhosari, Kasarwadi, Phugewadi, Dapoli, Bopodi, Khadki and Range Hill — with a total length of 32 km.

It is divided between Line of 16.59 km and Line ll of 14.66 km.
The Line I is partly elevated and partly underground starting from Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to Swargate.

All elevated stations on the Line are being constructed by the HCC-AL FARA’A JV. The total construction cost of Phase 1 is estimated at around Rs 500 cr.
