Nagaland, which is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its statehood, is all geared up for the forthcoming 10-day Hornbill Festival from December 1 until 10, which will be inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee. In view of the statehood celebrations, the state government has chalked out a special map for this year’s Hornbill Festival and people can expect a spectacular inaugural function at Kisama Heritage Village.
The commissioner and secretary of the tourism, art and culture department, Himato Zhimomi, laid bare the festival plans while addressing mediapersons at the Conference Hall of the tourism department on Monday. The festival has been extended to 10 days and many new events have been included in the itinerary. Besides, the President, along with many other diginitaries, is expected to grace the opening ceremony.
