Painganga safari, cycling in Tadoba buffer open

In a bonanza of sorts for tourists, two new attractions are being launched from the New Year. While cycling will start at Agarzari in Tadoba buffer zone, Painganga wildlife sanctuary in Yavatmal district, 250km from here, will turn a new leaf by opening the sanctuary for tourists.

Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) field director GP Garad said, though there will be no formal inauguration of the cycling activity at Pardi, riders can pay for a bicycle ride from 6.30 to 9.30am from Friday.

In another development, Painganga divisional forest officer (DFO) BP Rathod said, “We will open jungle safari on 56km route in Painganga from Friday.”

Rathod said the routes are spread over three ranges and tourists will enjoy the safari. There are leopards, chitals, nilgais, sloth bears, black bucks, wild boars and a variety of bird species in the sanctuary. The forest is thick and has some historic places too inside.
