Odisha plans swank tourism plaza at Bhubaneshwar

BHUBANESWAR

The Odisha state government has an ambitious plan to boost the tourist potential of the state by building a multi-storey swanky tourist plaza at Bhubaneshwar, reports Times of India (ToI).

As per the report, the plaza will house tourism representatives from across Indian states and will provide information about tourism activities in their states. It will also have shops displaying state specific arts and crafts, a tourism gallery with rare pictures on display, restaurants and a state of the art convention centre. Tourism minister Ashok Panda said three sites were under consideration for the project.

“We have seen the sites near AG square, Unit-VIII and Bhanja Kala Mandap. The general administration (GA) department will take a final call on the matter and allot one site to the tourism department. I hope the process will be completed within a month,” Panda told ToI.

The state government is also planning to open Odisha Travel Mart (OTM) in collaboration with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) at a cost of Rs 5 crore to be split between the two entities.
