October weekends – boon for travellers

hiq-chartHolidayIQ, has analysed user actions of 5 million travellers who plan holidays with them every month to identify some interesting trends.

October 2014 sees two extended weekends – the first one for Gandhi Jayanti and Dusshera in the first week and the other around Diwali in the third week of the month.

HolidayIQ is India’s first & largest travel community with over 20 lakh members from 80+ Indian cities.

Andaman & Nicobar emerged as the most preferred destination for the extended weekends in the month of October 2014. Other popular destinations searched were Kerala, Thailand, Kashmir, Gangtok, Shimla, Manali, Ladakh, Goa and Ooty.

Respondents in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi chose Andaman & Nicobar, Kashmir and Kerala as the most preferred destinations

Hill stations were popular in the upcoming long weekends accounting for nearly 47% of all holidays planned followed by beaches at 23% and heritage holidays at 10%

Being a short holiday, travellers prefer destinations closer to their respective homes, i.e. Travellers from North prefer destinations in the northern region and so on.
