No dance bars in Goa: Parrikar

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar haas declared that the government acknowledges tourism industry as a significant source of revenue and employment generation and, therefore, his government was committed to kick-out the activities that tarnish the image of Goa as a tourist destination. Mr. Parrikar sought to put a lid on the on-going controversy stating that dance bars would not be allowed in Goa.

Stating that management of waste was a critical issue because of its adverse effect on the tourism sector, Chief Minister said state of the art garbage treatment plants would be set up at three places in the State.

These projects would be completed in the coming year which would help solve the problem of garbage thus making Goa a clean tourism destination. While stressing on self-employment he said the financial assistance under the Chief Minister Rojgar Yojana had been enhanced and simplified.
