Nato role in Ukraine crisis worries Goa tourism

It’s the Russian tourists that have kept the cash registers of the tourism industry ringing in the last three years, after fewer visitors from traditional markets like UK, Germany and Scandinavia landed in Goa. Yet, industry stakeholders aren’t able to shake of their anxiety on losing the western Europe market though there have been gains in eastern Europe.

The Russia centric trend is clearly visible in the charter arrivals that saw 766 from this one country of a total of 965 this season till March 23. This putting of all the “eggs in one basket” is worrying industry insiders, especially as the Russian occupation of Crimea has invited the wrath of European countries and the subsequent intervention of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (Nato).
