Nashik boat club yet to get green nod

The proposed boat club and water sports centre in the backwaters of Gangapur dam has started without the enviornment clearance that is mandatory for all tourism projects near water bodies according to orders of the Union environment and forests ministry’s Environment Impact Assessment (EIA).

The water resources department, which has to obtain the environment clearance, has not done it so far. An EIA has to be conducted to get the go ahead and such projects require clearance from the Union government. “We have not yet taken the environment clearance from the Centre. The department will soon apply for it,” executive engineer of the water resources department A N Mhaske said.
