Naidu wants air connectivity in Andhra

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu said on Tuesday that the Vijayawada Airport new terminal building would be ready by the end of December and stressed upon the need for the increasing connectivity between Vijayawada and other important cities in the state.

He met the airline operators at his camp office and discussed the developments taking place in the airlines’ services, airports and tourism, reports The Hans India. The Chief Minister informed the representatives that he was keen on making Andhra Pradesh an airline hub and sought their support.

Naidu informed the representatives that the Centre would soon call for bidding with respect to connectivity and suggested the operators to participate and support the process. Besides this, he also suggested for increasing connectivity on routes such as Vijayawada – Vishakhapatnam, Vijayawada – Hyderabad, Vijayawada –Tirupati and Vijayawada – Kadapa.

On the occasion, he said that the new terminal at Vijayawada Airport would be ready by December. The airline operators urged the government to provide transport from the airport to the nearby cities at reasonable and affordable prices.

This will help increase the income of the airline organisations, they added. The Chief Minister shared his opinion that attractive packages should be introduced by the airline operators to boost tourism and that a competitive spirit among the airline operators is very important.
