Mysore Palace revenue doubles in five years

Mysore-Palace-A comparison of five years’ figures of tourists visiting India’s most-visited place, the Mysore Palace, reveals that while its revenues have doubled, the number of visitors has increased only by about one-sixth.

During 2009-10 financial year, it saw over 2.76 million visitors, fetching revenues of ~6.50 crore. On the other hand, the number of visitors during 2013-14 was under 3.25 million, but the revenue saw a quantum jump to ~12.65 crore.

There has been a marginal increase in the number of foreign tourists by about 2,000, from 70,037 in 2009-10 to 72,483 last year. In fact, the number of foreign visitors has seen a fall.
