If additional chief secretary Arvind Jadhav has his way, hotels in Mysore will announce tariffs before Dasara season and stick to it extending quality services to the milling visitors.
Jadhav, who is head of tourism department, asked hoteliers to announce the tariffs now and stick to it till the end of Dasara festival, at a meeting with various stakeholders in tourism on Thursday. This follows complaints that some hotels fleece visitors hiking the tariffs during the 10-day festival. This should be stopped, the senior IAS officer was requested. Stepping in, he asked hoteliers to announce the tariff. The idea is to bring in transparency and curb the practice of charging exorbitantly during the peak season.
He has directed the district administration to focus on sanitation during the festival. “The image tourist get back once they visit and leave the city is important. Ensure that they have a pleasant stay,” he told the meeting. Hoteliers, industrialists, tour operators, representatives from industrial bodies attended the meeting. DC C Shikha, who is Dasara special officer, was present. He also asked the district administration to upload Dasara details on the website so that tourists plan their visit well in advance.
