Mysore goes off air map on September 5

MYSORE

The Heritage City could lose air connectivity again.

Within days after it resumed its services to Mysore, SpiceJet indicated to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) that it will discontinue services from September 5. The state government plans to get Air India to connect Mysore to important destinations.

Deputy commissioner C Shikha said SpiceJet will discontinue services later this week, and it’ll affect Dasara travellers.

With the private operator indicating it could withdraw flights till October-end, revenue minister V Srinivas Prasad is considering getting the government-owned operator to operate flights out of Mysore. “After the intervention of Union minister of state for civil aviation GM Siddeshwara, the private operator had agreed to resume operations. I don’t know what changed in less than a month. We should focus on alternatives,” Prasad told TOI.
