NAGPUR: To celebrate World Tourism Day on Tuesday, the regional office of Maharashtra State Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) will be taking up a number of initiatives in the city to promote tourism in Vidarbha and to introduce a new destination to tourists across the country.
Under its slogan of ‘Tourism for all, promoting universal accessibility’, a Nagpur Darshan trip has been organized for 21 children of Deaf and Dumb School, Shankar Nagar, reports The Times of India.
The tour would begin at 9am and the students would be taken to different spots like Deekshabhoomi, Maharajbagh Zoo, Zero Mile, Central Museum and Raman Science Centre, informs a MTDC press release.
MTDC has also planned a soft opening of its new facility at Bodalkasa near Tiroda. The 24-room tourist home will have eight VIP rooms, eight deluxe rooms, eight standard rooms and two dormitories along with a restaurant and conference room. The destination, which is 5km from the Mangezari entry point for Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary, will offer a jungle safari and water sports facilities.
MTDC has involved students of institutions that offer hotel management and tourism courses to distribute roses to passengers at the city airport and at Ajni and Nagpur railway stations to mark the occasion. Two desks have been set up at both the locations for the purpose.
