Midnight ordeal for Air India passengers

BHUBANESWAR
For Air India (AI) passengers, the Sunday night flight from Bhubaneswar to New Delhi was no less than an ordeal. The flight had to cut short its journey and return because of dense fog over northern India. If that was not enough, the AI aircraft had to spend more than one hour circling over Biju Patnaik International Airport here awaiting clearance for landing.

All this happened around midnight. The AI flight, which leaves Bhubaneswar at 9 pm, was delayed by over an hour and by the time it set off, dense fog had virtually crippled operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport, prompting the flight to return.
