Manipur sees rise in foreign tourists

SHILLONG

In the last one year, the inflow of foreign tourists in militancy-hit Manipur has increased, government officials said.

“About 154% of foreign tourists visited Manipur during 2012-2013,” said secretary to the Union tourism ministry, Parvez Dewan, on the sidelines of the 3rd International Tourism Mart, 2014, which ended in the city on Wednesday.

The tourism mart was inaugurated by Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma in the presence of Union minister of state for tourism and culture, Shripad Naik, on Monday.
