Manali gets fresh snowfall

MANALI: The intense cold wave sweeping the Manali region further tightened its grip as the entire upper Manali region experienced a fresh spell of snow, while the lower parts were lashed by rain on February 5.

The snowfall in the lower parts was mild and melted away within a few hours, reports The Tribune.

Tourists were elated to see the Manali areas covered with fresh snow. Hundreds of tourists, who had arrived in Manali from the neighbouring states on the week-end holiday, rushed to Palchan and the Solang valley to see the fresh snow. They were seen enjoying and having photo sessions.

The ski slopes of the Solang valley, which are used for different skiing courses by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports,Manali, also received a fresh snow.

The Rohtang Pass received a heavy snowfall. Due to moderate to heavy snowfall on the Manali-Rohtang road, people in the tourism industry were happy. They feel that it will boost winter tourism and also bring in a long summer session, giving a rise in tourist inflow to Manali.

The entire higher reaches in the upper Kullu valley, including Marhi, Gulaba, Kothi, Dhundhi, Beaskund, Bhrighu slopes, Hamta ski slopes and Chandrekhani Pass, also experienced fresh snowfall.
