Making Gomti flow: Centre promises project report

LUCKNOW

The movement for the Gomti got a big push here on Tuesday, with the Centre deciding to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) on the action plan for the rejuvenation of the river.

This was decided as Union home minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh, along with Union water resources minister Uma Bharti, took a pledge on the banks of the Gomti – to rejuvenate the river, clean its water and beautify the river-front, reports Times of India.

Speaking at a programme organsied by an NGO, Singh took an assurance from Uma Bharti, who also holds the river development and Ganga rejuvenation ministries, for a DPR on the rejuvenation of the river.
