Maha to develop Lonar crater as a tourist destination

MUMBAI

The Maharashtra government has decided to develop Lonar Crater in Buldhana district as a mega tourist destination and will soon send a proposal to Centre in this regard Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis told the state assembly on Wednesday.

Tadoba-Andhari tiger reserve in Chandrapur district and other wildlife areas would also be developed on lines of African national parks. “The tourist accommodations will assimilate the local culture. The locals will be engaged in tourism promotion,” Fadnavis said.

The government has also decided to develop five new tourist spots three of which are in Vidarbha – Sakoli, Chikhaldara and Bodalkasa. Lake tourism would be developed in Nagpur, Chandrapur and Wardha districts, he said. A proposal would be sent to the Centre for this too, he added.
