Long queues at all Delhi Metro stations on R-Day

With stringent security in place for the Republic Day, Metro commuters have much to deal with. The long queues due to security checking by CISF have increased their travel time.

“The checking is being done more strictly than usual because of the threat perception before the Republic Day,” said a DMRC official, reports The Times of India. The effect is visible in all the stations, especially in the interchange ones and on the Airport Express line. Commuters can be seen waiting in long queues winding down the station concourse.

“My travel time has increased by almost half an hour due to these checks,” said S Ray waiting for the train at the New Delhi railway station.

Stations like Rajiv Chowk, Kashmere Gate and Central Secretariat, too, have been witnessing long queues in front of the CISF checking points. Rohit Gupta, who commutes from Dwarka to Connaught Place every day, said, “Usually, CISF frisking takes me 10 minutes, but since the past week, it’s 15 to 20 minutes.”
