Land of pyramids woos Indian tourists


MUMBAI
As part of the ‘One Million Indian Tourists’ initiative, the Egyptian Tourism Ministry has announced that Indian tourists will now be able to get visa on arrival in Egypt.

Hesham Zaazou, Egyptian Minister for Tourism, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with several Indian tour operators to further promote the initiative.

Egypt Air, the national carrier, will also start operating direct flights from New Delhi to Cairo. At present, Egypt Air only flies to the Mumbai International Airport.

Cox & Kings, Thomas Cook, Akbar Travels, and Mercury Travels, are some of the tour operators that are part of the MoU. These, together with the Ministry of Tourism in Egypt and the Indo-Egypt Trade Council, will promote Egypt as a tourism destination.
