Kolkatta cabbies to get etiquette lessons

KOLKATA
The state government is making yet another attempt to give etiquette lessons to taxi drivers in the city. The Mamata Banerjee government, in collaboration with CII, has decided to organise the classes at the Police Training School on AJC Bose Road from next month.

Each batch consisting of 30 cabbies will have a two-day module where they will be trained on how to behave well with passengers.

“If tourists have the wrong impression of the City of Joy, blame much of it on cabby drivers and the rudeness behind the wheels,” tourism secretary Vikram Sen said. The first thing the cabby will find out, courtesy the training is that he is no longer the tobacco-chewing taxi-wallah, but a representative of the city.
