Kerala homestay owners seek clear norms on sector

The sixth annual conference of Kerala Homestay and Tourism Society (Kerala HATS) was held at Fort Kochi on Saturday, with owners of registered homestays demanding that government adopt clear cut norms on the sector.

They gave a memorandum to Director of Kerala Tourism P I Sheik Pareeth, elaborating how they are forced to pay taxes to different departments, in the absence of clear cut government norms. They also demanded convening of a meeting to chalk out plans for Kerala’s first business to business (B2B) meet of homestay owners scheduled for May 2015.

Saturday’s conference was inaugurated by K.V. Thomas, MP. Former chief of RAW, P.K. Hormese Tharakan was among those present.
