It’s that time of the year again, when the grassy greens of Umaid Bhawan Palace have hectic action and Maharaja Gaj Singh’s line-up of vintage cars are given a thorough polish – the polo season gallops to a start in Jodhpur and setting the benchmark high is the opening British Polo Day in Jodhpur event.
An annual polo and luxury tour spread across 3 days, British Polo Day will feature teams from England including Eton, Mayo and the British Cavalry, facing off against India’s Sahara Warriors and even the President’s Body Guard (PBG). Travelling with Abercrombie & Kent, guests to this exclusive invitation-only event will descend on Jodhpur, travel over land with Land Rover’s exclusive vehicles, for what has become the flagship of the British Polo Day Global Series. Co-hosted by British Polo Day founders, Edward Olver and Tom Hudson along with Maharaja Gaj Singh of Jodhpur, experience history and contemporary style come alive!
Some of the world’s most esteemed institutions will be taking to The Jodhpur Polo and Equestrian Institute’s private pitch as The British Army, President’s Bodyguard, Sahara Warriors, Eton, Mayo, Oxbridge and Jodhpur Polo teams go head-to-head over an exhilarating three days. Players will be vying for their place on the podium of British Polo Day India’s official prize giving, with crowds gathered for a Royal Salute Scotch Whisky toast to the victorious teams and Jaeger-LeCoultre’s ‘Most Valuable Player’ award, which is the gorgeous Atmos Classique Phases de Lune watch.
British Polo Day’s evening events take guests to some of India’s most historic settings. On the evening of Saturday 13th December, guests will take a rather special walk up to the breathtaking Mehrangarh Fort for a candle-lit dinner and dancing until the early hours! On the final night – Sunday 14th December – British Polo Day India draws to a close with a glamorous reception at the Umaid Bhawan Palace.
The event culminates on a stylish note with the Grand Finale evening at Umaid Bhawan Palace of the Taj Group, with the highlight of the evening being a spectacular fashion show featuring the latest collections from McQ Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Hackett London and UK Jewellery Designer of the Year, Sophie Harley – the creative talent behind the jewellery worn in James Bond’s Casino Royale.
