It’s raining tourists at monsoon getaways

MUMBAI
The Nariman Point office of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is buzzing despite summer vacations having ended long time ago. With the rains arriving in full swing, Mumbaikars have been calling up to book resorts at the state’s monsoon destinations.

Officials said that since mid-June, not all reservation requests were being processed as most resorts were already 100% booked on weekends and 75-80% on weekdays till September. Most resorts at destinations in Konkan have been reserved in advance.

Thanks to the overwhelming bookings, MTDC has announced 20% discount for senior citizens and schoolkids (6-14 years). This may draw crowds to these destinations on weekdays, thus reducing the weekend burden.
