India among tourist source market in Asia for Scandinavia

DELHI

India is scaling the graph as the second top tourist source market in Asia, after China, for Scandinavian countries. This was revealed during a roadshow that concluded in Delhi, conducted by the Scandinavian partners, Visit Denmark, Visit Copenhagen, Visit Norway, and Visit Flåm. The roadshow will be held in Bengaluru tomorrow and in Mumbai on October 9.

Mohit Batra, India Representative, Scandinavian Tourist Board, noted that there has been a healthy growth in the number of Indians travelling to these destinations, primarily from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Bengaluru, producing a large chunk of business. Tier-II cities such as Ahmedabad and Pune have also been showing positive results, according to Batra.

“There has been consistent growth from the Indian market to Scandinavian countries. Copenhagen (capital of Denmark) has witnessed over 50,000 room nights from India every year. A lot of fixed departures to Norway are also earning good business. Lately, we have been gaining a lot through word-of-mouth publicity. Currently, our only challenge is to increase awareness about the destinations,” Batra said.
