‘Hotels airing free Marathi channels’

MUMBAI
A day after the NCP demanded compulsory beaming of Marathi channels at all hotels in Mumbai, hoteliers said they had already been airing all free-to-air channels that are available in all regional languages, including Marathi.

The hoteliers said that they faced restrictions in beaming pay channels due to regulatory issues.

“Hotels pay a heavy price for paid channels due to regulatory issues and hence the choice of channels is subject to the affordability. However, free-to-air channels in all regional languages are available at all the hotels,” said Dinesh Advani, president of Hotel and Restaurant Association Western India (HRAWI).
