Grand Kerala Shopping Festival, the shopping extravaganza scheduled to commence on December 1, has failed to take off. The government-sponsored Grand Kerala Shopping Festival, has become a non-starter at its seventh edition, thanks to serious differences of opinion among the trading community.
The government had planned the 45-day trade event to coincide with the tourism season around year-end and the New Year. Taking cue from international shopping festivals held at Dubai and other global destinations, the government intends to make GKSF a huge draw for shopping enthusiasts, but has fallen short of the target.
