Hotelier and industrialist P V Giri on Sunday urged the government to initiate steps to start air services from Mysore to key cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi, which could boost tourism activities in the region.
Speaking at a function to release the diary of Mysore District Journalists’ Association here, he said that tourism has taken a beating due to lack of good roads and air services, and the government should seriously address the issue.
“Good roads and air services in Mysore not only boost tourism and economy of Mysore city, but will also have an impact on the nation’s economy,” he claimed, adding that the government should initiate steps to control prices which have a cascading effect on the life of people and on sectors like tourism and economy. “Tourists keep coming to the city if prices are under control,” he added.
