From Ayodhya to Sri Lanka, by air and rail

CHENNAI

India’s rail tourism corporation has launched a pilgrimage tour to track the journey of Rama from Ayodhya to Nuwara Eliya, where Sita was held captive in Sri Lanka, according to legend.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC)’s 2,200-km comes in two parts: a visit to Sri Lanka by flight for five days and to Ayodhya by train for 11 days.

About 30 pilgrims, over 55 years, took part in the maiden Sri Ramayana Yatra (Sri Lanka) tour this March, in which six historical temples were showcased. It included the Sita temple, Ravana temple and cave, Gayathri Peedam and Bhakta Hanuman temple among others.
