France to open visa centre in Kochi

KOCHI

France will open a visa service centre and Campus France office in Kochi by the end of this year, Ambassador of France to India Fancois Richier has said.

He was speaking at a press conference here on Saturday. The French Ambassador said that the visa centre would be helpful for people from Kerala to visit France and the campus office will help to boost cooperation among education institutions of both the countries.

Mentioning the loan given to Kochi Metro project, Fancois Richier said that the French Government is willing to fund eco-friendly projects in the state.

“The state of Kerala is not much interested in public-private partnerships. This is the major reason why foreign firms do not prefer to invest here. We are looking forward to more investment in agriculture, tourism and other sectors in the state. The state government has to identify financially viable, eco-friendly projects that can be funded. French companies have expertise in road construction, water and waste treatment. Five French firms have invested in Kochi and two in other parts of the state,” he added.
