Family to get Rs 37,000 for cancelled flight

MUMBAI
Kingfisher Airlines Ltd will have to reimburse Rs 29,705 to a family after they had to shell out extra money to book air tickets from Delhi to Srinagar following the airline’s last-minute decision to cancel flights on the route.

A district forum also directed the airlines to pay the complainant, Raisuri Khan, around Rs 7,500 as compensation. The airline was held guilty of deficiency in service. Khan, a Kanjurmarg resident, filed a complaint before the Mumbai Suburban District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum on June 12 2012. On November 9, 2011, Khan had booked five tickets costing 22,670 on the airline’s Delhi-Srinagar flight, which was scheduled to depart on April 21, 2012 and Khan paid a total of Rs 22,670.
