Crores spent on dead-end projects in Mysore

When authorities in Mysore took up developmental projects under the CM’s Rs 100 cr grant and JnNURM scheme, it was aimed at addressing civic problems. But the authorities have squandered public money on dead-end projects.

Few years ago, the civic body laid raised pedestrian crossings (RPC) on the roads in the CBD. A part of the road was raised by laying paver blocks so that vehicle users can see pedestrians crossing clearly from a distance. Nearly Rs 1 lakh was spent on each RPC and a total of Rs 35 lakh was spent. But it appears officials have not maintained a record as to how many crossings were created.
