CBI inquiry in tiger poaching case

MUMBAI
Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Tuesday, July 30 ordered a CBI inquiry into cases of tiger poaching. Ahe statement to this effect was made by the chief minister during the function ‘Leave me alone-Save the Tiger’ organized on world forest day in Mumbai on Tuesday.

“There is inter-state connection and gang involved in tiger poaching cases. Police have certain limitations when it comes to conduct inquiry beyond state jurisdiction. Hence, it would be appropriate to hand over the investigations to the CBI,” Chavan said, adding, “While saving the Tiger, one also has to encourage and ensure effective implementation of wild tourism in Maharashtra.”
