Care for adventure, ask enthusiasts

KOCHI

Despite the demand for activity-based tourism packages increasing across the country, Kerala is yet to find takers. For a place dotted with rivers, beaches and hills, the potential seems far from realised.

After the bad press received post the incident where an 11-month-old baby was sent on a paragliding mission by the parents in Kannur, adventure sports enthusiasts are concerned.

“The Government must enforce regulations so that publicity mongers and unscrupulous people do not venture into the sector. Professionals must be appointed in the Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society. A lethargic attitude will harm the sector,” said Binu Perumana, member of National Adventure Foundation, New Delhi.

River rafting is possible in many rivers, while para-motoring can be promoted in beaches like Muzhipilangad, Payyambalam and Varkala.
