BA to fly Dreamliner on Chennai-London leg

CHENNAI

After Hyderabad, British Airways will introduce its ultra-modern B787 Dreamliner aircraft in the Chennai-London route – an important link to people going to the US. It will also increase frequency between Chennai and London to a daily service from the earlier six days a week. Both will be effective from October 27.

“Chennai and Hyderabad are key sectors going forward. We expand where we see growth,” said Christopher Fordyce, Regional Commercial Manager, British Airways, South Asia. Addressing newspersons on the plans, he said the airline has introduced a discount offer of an all-inclusive economy fare starting at ₹49,230 from Chennai to London for tickets booked by October 31 for outbound travel until March 31, 2015.

This includes fare of ₹12,000; fees of 5,417; taxes of ₹10,203 and fuel charge of ₹21,610. The announcement marks British Airways’ 90 years of service to India and the increase in service from Chennai reiterates the airlines’ commitment to the market. The daily service will give business and leisure customers the opportunity to connect with British Airways’ global network from Heathrow. Chennai is also a successful market for customers in the small and medium size enterprise segment, he said.
