Bodh Gaya all set for for global Buddhist conclave


The three-day international Buddhist conclave at Bodh Gaya is all set to begin on Friday.  The conclave has been organized jointly by the department of tourism, Government of India, Bihar and UP.

Bihar’s tourism minister Dr Jawaid Iqbal Ansari said delegates from Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, Germany, Greece, Japan, New Zealand, Spain, Canada, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, UK, USA, Italy, Russia, China, France and Holland will attend the conclave. About 138 foreign delegates from 32 countries and 130 from India have already confirmed their participation.

The minister said a panel discussion on ‘Buddhist Pilgrimage: Connecting People, Connecting Nations’ would also be held on the second day. The inaugural function would be held at Kagyupa International Monlam Trust near Terger monastery. Union minister of tourism and culture Sripad Naik, Bihar’s CM Jitan Ram Manjhi and UP minister for technical education Srikant Ojha would address the delegates.
