Bird Group looks at acquiring UK hotel properties

DELHI

Bird Hospitality, the Hospitality division of Bird Group, is looking at acquiring more hotels in the UK market said Ankur Bhatia, executive director Bird Group. It already owns a luxury boutique hotel, The Royal Park Hotel, in London. “UK is closer to India and we know that market very well,” Bhatia told TRavelBizMonitor.

He also said that the 216-room Dusit D2 at Delhi Aerocity will get operational over the next couple of months. Dusit D2 will be the second hotel of the Bird – Dusit Joint Venture, after the Dusit Devarana opening last year.

Unlike other Dusit D2 hotels, which are largely positioned in the upscale four-star segment, the new Dusit D2 at Delhi Aerocity is designed as an ‘upper, upscale luxury hotel’. The Bird Group is targeting a much younger client base with the same. “Dusit D2 will be the most luxurious hotel in the Aerocity. It has a new age design with extremely rich finishes and interiors. Art is an important element and the hotel is extremely design-oriented,” Bhatia said. The hotel will also have many F&B outlets, theatre and rooms and suites designed by Fendi Casa.

Talking on the development of tourism in the country, Bhatia said that while moves to ease access to India with an easier visa is a welcome step, it needs to be marketed properly through new media and other channels.
