Bihar to develop every tourist spot, says minister

Dr Javed Iqbal Ansari took over as Bihar tourism minister on June 3 this year. As the minister and his team were readying to host three-day International Buddhist Conclave at Bodh Gaya from September 26, Madan Kumar caught up with him on Wednesday to know about the state’s other initiatives to boost tourism. Excerpts:

The Buddhist conclave apart, what are your other plans for development of tourism in Bihar?

Few states in India have such abundant tourism resources as Bihar, but we could not showcase our tourist spots on global platforms like other states have done. Sacred places related to Buddhism, Jainism, Sufism and Ramayana apart, we have scenic spots like Valmikinagar for promoting ecotourism. Our challenge is, how to brand better our tourist destinations.
